Watched the 3x3 scrimmage, obviously it's more about seeing raw skill than anything else.
Sokolovskii is really impressive, won't turn 18 for a couple weeks, 6'7 238, and he dwarfs everyone, even guys like Amico, Nesbitt, Gill, etc. But despite that, he's a fluid skater, not just straight line but has good lateral agility and doesn't look awkward skating backwards. Which means he can easily reach his spot and is almost impossible to skate around. Showed some nice puck handling, scoring a couple goals, shot between the legs, moving through traffic. Obviously a work in progress, but he isn't a stiff like Morin, who even before his injuries was fast straight line but a bit stiff laterally and who struggled with puck handling and had to skate with his head down to see the puck. I'm starting to think with 1 year in London, and 2 in college, he could be starting by 2029.
One nice thing about Martone, Barkey, Bump and Bonk out there is the kids got a taste of what NHL caliber play is all about.They were clearly heads and shoulders above, which is to be expected. But remember the ages, Martone (19), Barkey (20), Bonk (20), Bump (22).
Knuble was impressive, skating much improved, nice offensive skills. He'll start in LHV with Jett, interesting to see if they ut him at C or RW. I expect him to push for a promotion by spring.
Martagh, Powell looked good, Gard, Vanseghi not as much, Nesbitt I didn't see enough to have an opinion.
Amico skating much better a year removed from his knee surgery, Gill, Vlooswyck.
One thing that stands out is how physically undeveloped the tall 19-20 year olds, who are still filling out, are compared to Sokolovskii, physically, he's a man among boys even among a group of big prospects.
