Yeah I posted it in the non-Phillies thread but certainly of Phillies interest. As I said there, they absolutely could have, so they probably didn't want to. It's questionable he can actually play 3B and they can't put him at 1B or DH.
And that $ difference with Bohm would only be for this year, plus that $7 million is already spent on JT, probably. Where do you put Miller next year while you're paying him $17 million (yeah, I know, SS, but probably not).
They may or may not have been one of the teams that made him a longer (but lower AAV) offer, but the fact that no contender apparently had the best bid says a lot. If he actually works out, and Miller isn't our future 3B, Phillies (or anyone else) can always trade for him in 18 months (and/or sign him as a FA).
