FAC - I am very sorry for your loss. I lost my father to Leukemia in 1993 - he was a big Phillies phan - he took me to my first game in 1975 at the Vet against the Pirates. These are tough times now, but you'll always remember the great times and the impact he had on your life.

FAC- You are e remarkable person and are very much appreciated by many known and unknown friends. I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad many years ago and still reach for the phone occasionally when Howard belts on in the last of the ninth or the Phils make a big trade. He went to a zillion Eagles games also and it is quite interesting how much better these franchises have done since he got himself a better seat to watch them both. Maybe your Dad can grab the next seat!

Your message struck a chord with me, particularly that you have been in mourning for a few years. I just returned from Philadelphia and saw my own father. He has Alzeimer's and while I am grateful for every chance I get to see him, I have been in mourning for a while myself for the man he used to be. Your message helped me realize that when his time is finally up, I will get through it.

Sorry to hear that the disease finally defeated him. It is so remarkable that he was able to enjoy a Phillies World Series win and a second NL championship in the last two years of his life. Find a cure is right. Such a sad, sad disease.

Hi everyone,

I haven't been around that much lately - and there is a reason why.

I have some sad news. My father lost his 4+ year battle with ALS this past Sunday. It was very hard at the end - but when the time came - he went very peacefully.

I wanted to simply let everyone know how much I appreciated your support these past few years. This board (along with bsg and philaphans) were often a way for me to allow my brain to concentrate on something else in tough times.

I am very much at peace - having spent most of the past few years in mourning. I want everyone to have a Happy, Healthy and Safe new year. Let's all hope we are once again in for a dream season in 2010. This is an amazing time to be a Phillies fan. FAC

Just reading this thread as brought a smile to my face and makes me REALLY want the 2010 season to start!

Things are ok around here - there are moments here and there - but I'm balancing the tough moments with the idea of how life opens up for me and my family now - it's a strange mix.

I run a huge charity event for the ALS Association every year and plan to volunteer at the Phestival this year - I have my contacts - I plan to continue my part to find a cure for ALS

Schillingfan nailed it on the head - ALS is a sad, sad disease.... it's New Year's Eve - celebrate - relax - and enjoy life.... FAC
