(OT) A message from the Cure

Well - today marks the day I return for a Phillies game at CBP. My last game was in August of 2004 (I've been to two Phestivals since that time at CBP).

I'm hoping that my attendance will spark the team to put up some runs!

I am looking forward to watching them get their rings (in public) and a great afternoon of baseball (gotta love spring break!).

I won't be around for PBP on Friday (I have FIOS - the game is on CN8) or Saturday (plans).

Win #1 happens today!

I will be at one of my last days at work here in lovely Marlborough, MA in the most confusing projects I have ever seen. But then again in 2 days I will be unemployed, so I guess it is just good to be getting a check. A Phils win would help to cheer me up.

I am counting on you to somehow interfere in the game if it is turning bad. After all if you only go once every 5 years they will have forgotten about you by the next time so you will be able to get in again. Therefore I think you should start drinking... well, about now and do something extremely stupid if the Phils are losing. Actually, maybe I should do the same.

Well you picked a unbelievable game to go to! Congratulations on seeing the Phils 1st win of the season! Hope you had a great time.

Well - I wish I could say I was there for the comeback.... but you have to realize how things work for me. I stay away from the stadium for five years - they return to the playoffs and win the World Series.

I attended the game with my best friend - and last night was the first night of Passover - and I was actually invited to dinner - so - when it was 10-3 - we left.......

as soon as we got outside of the stadium - we heard the first cheers - checked my iPhone - it was 10-5
we got onto Delaware Avenue - it was 10-7
we got onto I-95 - it was 11-10
by the time we pulled into the parking lot - they had won

It was so bittersweet (bitter because I left - sweet because they won). I thought I had learned my lesson about leaving early two years ago when Villanova came back and beat LSU - but I guess not. Anyway - it was a huge win - and I was glad to be back at CBP. The ring ceremony was unreal. I was way up in section 310 - but I did get some great pictures.. I'll post in the thread soon.

My dad went to get 'a burger or something' as he had skipped lunch and the innings were crawling by.

Missed 6 or 7 of the runs (saw some of it on the TV at the concession stand).

Phillies didn't rally until the Phanatic came to the dugout and started doing the hex thing. Seemed to actually work yesterday.

Dear the Cure,

I'm a Temple grad and now a phan in Thailand. I just want to say how much I appreciate your game threads and your dedication. Since there's no tv coverage of baseball in Thailand, my life as a phan depended on your threads. I sorely miss watching Phillies and listening to Harry Kalas calling the game, but your threads were the closest thing to it and made missing out on being in Philly more tolerable. Thank you. Thank you very much.

As we all know FAC is a sure hall of famer for his PBP, but have you heard of the Sling Box device. If you have a family member who will attach the box to their television you can watch the games live on your computer as well as all tv programs. The device is around $250 to purchase and there isn't a monthly or yearly fee. I have one for when traveling to away games. I can record the postgame on my home dvr and play it back when I get back to the hotel at night.

Thank you for the information. But I don't know where to get that Sling Box, plus $250 is still a lot of money for me (wouldn't subscription to MLB.com be cheaper?). But most importantly ... there's FindACure!

Hi everyone,

I haven't been around that much lately - and there is a reason why.

I have some sad news. My father lost his 4+ year battle with ALS this past Sunday. It was very hard at the end - but when the time came - he went very peacefully.

I wanted to simply let everyone know how much I appreciated your support these past few years. This board (along with bsg and philaphans) were often a way for me to allow my brain to concentrate on something else in tough times.

I am very much at peace - having spent most of the past few years in mourning. I want everyone to have a Happy, Healthy and Safe new year. Let's all hope we are once again in for a dream season in 2010. This is an amazing time to be a Phillies fan. FAC
