FCL is on today at Noon. Off days are Wednesdays and Sundays. 4 team division so they don't have to vary it much like the East Division which has 5 teams. Hoping for a Fisher debut.

Looks like they have an official DSL start date of June 1 as well. I did not see the FCL standings on the MILB like either so they clearly have their work cut out in getting those games on the official scoreboard. I think I use the rolling box like 95% of the time anyway though it is sometimes difficult to figure out what happened without the other team's box.

Home runs from Kemp, Rincon, and Escobar soften the blow a bit.

I admit I don't really know enough about Fisher other than the athleticism. Fairly sure the present velocity will improve, but pitching is a lot more than that.

Kemp is probably better suited to the platoon spot than Reyes. Just has more high minors experience. Neither may be great of course with the sporadic playing time. Mattingly does look like he is trying to get the bench a bit more involved now.

His overall numbers still don't look like a guy who's gotten back on track with some regular ABs, but maybe today's a point of demarcation. And obviously Reyes has no business being up there.

Too bad Stubbs can't platoon with Marsh.

More likely to see Stubbs getting some starts for Bohm. Just no idea if he is any good there defensively. It is just hard to learn new things in your 30s. I think Marchan will get more backup catcher starts than Stubbs. But we'll also be aggressive about pinch hitting Marchan now in the 7th inning or later.

It was just interesting to see Stubbs play last night. As well as it went you'd have to think he catches Nola next time. But no matter how much Donnie says he wants to play JT less there's still not enough starts to go around. I guess the other thing is it makes JT available to PH every time he doesn't start.

In any case. Minor league thread. Kemp should be back, yes! And the other OFs in the system (on or off the 40) still not options really.

Is Heredia a prospect? Having a good season so far, however Ks are very high.

I don't think Heredia is much of a prospect these days unfortunately. Power is up a bit likely because of Reading, but the BB and K rates are worse. Matt had him 47th before the season and a nice healthy start probably moves him up a bit, but he really would need to control the strike zone better to have a chance at higher levels with better pitchers.

I wonder if Phillies are going to use Stott as trade bait. Escobar seems like a much better option at 2B.

Escobar still has much to prove (defensively too). Stott has this year and next before free agency, so it is very possible that Escobar would just replace Stott at that point. Miller replaces Bohm next year. Escobar for Stott in 2028. Ideally that is how the Phillies would make it up with possible earlier promotions for both to the bench (Miller this year, Escobar next).

Still a long way to go to get there for both prospects though. Remember Reading is an easy place to hit. And there just is a larger gap between the majors and minors as well.

Stott is certainly a trade candidate but is Escobar really a starting IF on the Phillies' Opening Day roster next April? Never mind that we don't even know if Miller is.

So far, nothing about this season has said that trading viable prospects or young major leaguers is the right thing to do. I don't want to add another old, oft injured, expensive star like Trout or a rental. Unless the team shows a major turnaround, this is not the year to spend $ or young talent in an attempt to make a run in the playoffs. This seems not to be our year.

I don't think I'd call Stott a young major leaguer at this point, even if it's all relative. He's a guy I'd trade for prospects while he still has the value of control, or as part of an off-season shake-up, not a guy I'd move to make the team better this year or next. But if both he and team don't improve - can't put too much stock in this stretch of the schedule - he won't be worth that much either (albeit more than Bohm was - or is, since Bohm currently has no trade value at all).

Stott has a .228 BABIP. It is discouraging that he is not having a better year than last year after his Spring Training performance, but he is far from the problem. He just may be a 700-725 OPS bat with good defense. We hoped for more, but it is not like he is nothing.

He is probably near the top of the list of our "sell" candidates if it came to that. No need to think of that yet, and we really should not add anything to the team unless we are in better playoff position. Doing nothing for the moment is probably the best course.

His defense hasn't been as good either but I'm sure that's just SSS. In any case, the only reason trading him came up was because of the post suggesting Escobar could take over. That would not be the action of a team trading for rentals (or Trout) that Atown brought up.
