Actually, I feel this Lehigh team as UNDERACHIEVED - they've lost two starting pitchers to the big club (Lively and PIvetta), but Appel, Pinto and Thomson are disappointments, Quinn is MIA, Alfaro has shown no improvement, Crawford is struggling, Valentin is out for the year - they could be much better. But what's drivng them is simply that in 60 games, Cozens 16 HR, Hoskins 15, Williams 14, Perkins .857 OPS, the only veteran hitter doing anything is Florimon, and Mora and Kingery in a few weeks may bench him.
Right now Eshelman is their only reliable starter, they had to drag Cesar Ramos and Leiter out of the pen to start, Eflin is injured,
While the bullpen has veterans like Venditte, Beato and Mariot, they brought up Therrien, moved Pinto there and Murray.
So given injuries and callups, they could be have a much better record than 45-24!
All four minor league teams are over .500, most well over. This despite a lot of early promotions (especially pitchers) forced by injury.
And for the most part this is driven by prospects.
This to me is far more important that the record of the major league club this season.
