Obdubel is in his own world, awful start, but the last month he's hitting at an allstar pace, by the end of the year I expect he'll have solid numbers.
Franco's slump started last year, and he's still learning how to hit, but is making progress the last few weeks - if he makes it through this rough patch he'll be a better hitter - the bat speed is there, it's learning patience and taking the outside pitch to RF and laying off low sliders that's the key.
Joseph had an awful start, but is hitting .300 since May 1, he just has to keep working on his plate discipline and balancing power and contact. But I expected some struggles, he missed almost 3 complete minor league seasons with the concussions and their aftermath.
Rupp is just mired in an awful slump, but it's not like he was projected to even start next year, and Knapp is showing good potential as a hitter from both sides and is a better defensive catcher than I expected.
Kendrick is the only veteran difference maker, Nava is regressing to his mean, which is a solid utilty man. Saunders and Blanco are easily replaced.
Overall, they're inconsistent, but running deeper counts and have more overall power.
All I want the rest of the year is continued progress, for a number of these hitters, they're learning new stances and approaches to hitting, so you'd expect ups and downs.
