Perkins has been getting his chance to show he deserves to stay up and in the starting linup. Now it is up to him to produce to keep getting regular starts.
Yep.
As of now, he's 2 for 11, with four strikeouts. Obviously a very small sample.
Unfortunately on this team that makes him not too bad.
Thanks for the deluxe GDT!
Pleasure. Wish I had the time (and motivation, now) to do it every day, but that doesn't seem to be happening right now...
Good things happening already!
Galvis with a triple and Altherr with an RBI groundout.
And Mark Leiter just got his first major league hit!
Herrera nails Ianetta trying to advance to 3rd on a fly out.
I'm sure not much is expected of Mark Leiter, but you've gotta admit, it's much more fun watching the young guys than it was a couple years ago watching the Sean O'Sullivan's and Kevin Corriea's.
End of 5 innings, Phillies hold a 1-0 lead. Leiter 5IP, 3H, 0R, 1BB, 5K.
I agree, I love seeing the young players getting a chance.
After 7 full innings:Phillies 1-8-0Diamondbacks 0-4-0
Leiter goes 6 innings, 3 hits, 1 walk, 5 Ks. Quality start plus!!Neshek pitches the 7th. Faced 4, one single, 3 Ks.
Quality start plus a base hit!
No doubt a good game for Leiter.
Franco home run in 8th gives Phillies a 2-0 lead.
Benoit in to pitch the 8th for the Phillies.
Dare I watch?
Franco with an opposite field solo HR in the 8th. Benoit now pitching in the bottom of the 8th.
I figure it is safe to watch until the tieing run reaches the batters box, then you might as well figure it will be at least tied.
Well I guess we will soon see if I was correct or not as the lead off batter hits a bouncer over the pitchers head and even though Blanco fielded it he had no play.
After a K, a triple makes it 2-1. Runner on third, one out.
Galvis' glove saves the Phils' once again.
an rbi triple plates the first run for the Dbacks and puts the tieing run at third with 1 out
After a Goldschmidt walk, Benoit K's Lamb swinging to end the 8th.
Phillies up 2-1 after 8 innings.
Kudos to Benoit for getting out a couple of very tough hitters.
Rupp with 2 hits on the day, nice to see.
