Three batters in, and the Rockies already have twice as many hits as outs. Hope today isn't a continuation of last night.
Runners on 1st & 2nd with Cargo batting.
Cargo Ks!
I will only be PBPing intermittently. If anyone else wants to jump in, go for it!
Velasquez escapes without damage.
BTW Franco and Rupp are back in the lineup today.
As they pointed out last night, the blowout happens in the third inning. So we're right on schedule.
Hernández GO, Altherr K.
Herrera batting.
Herrera Ks.
0-0 after 1.
Story leads off the 2nd with a FO.
Amarista Ks.
Single for the #8 hitter Hanigan.
Anderson Ks. Phils coming to bat.
Brief thunder/hailstorm here in NC, but now the sun is back out.
At this point the fact that the Phils get a hit seems like a good inning. No good innings yet, scary
We will come out of this funk, but we are deep in it at the moment
It's a good inning! Franco leads off with a single.
Whew.
Now I can start hoping for runs and a win. A win is when you score more runs than the other team for those of you that have forgotten, the minor league teams do it often.
Saunders rips one down the 1B line just foul. Ends up flying out, 1 down.
The Phils are working deep counts, but it hasn't paid off yet.
Joseph forces Franco at 2nd, 2 down.
So much for deep counts -- Rupp GO on the first pitch.
@bkeich Keep those reverse jinxes coming! The team needs you!
Takes 11 pitches, but Velasquez Ks Blackmon.
Desmond gets a single and immediately steals 2B.
Velasquez just has such a hard time effectively putting away batters. It takes him so many pitches to get through even a 123 inning. Really needs to develop his secondary pitches (especially his change) if he wants to be an effective starter that can get past the 5th inning. Also needs to learn how to pitch to contact sometimes, which he can do better with good secondary stuff.
