Will the Phillies be able to get their home opener in today? I'm sitting on my balcony here in Switzerland basking in perfectly sunny weather with the temperature at 65º.
It's in the 40s and drizzly in Philly at the moment. Not a pleasant game to attend, but no reason that it won't be played.
Thanks for your response, kmc1019. My concern has to do with the time difference. Afternoon games are some of the few games I can follow here.
A walk and a Bryce Harper 2 run homer. Fun.
Watching the game, it looks like a very small strike zone. Several of the called balls in fact were within the defined strikezone. Not easy pitching these days.
Rupp did not do a good job framing in the Harper at bat. Should have had one more strike.
Save your money klentak. how much is he gonna want?gm
Phils go 1-2-3.
3 Ks in a row for Vince, after the homer that put this one out of reach.
4 in a row.
In spite of the first pitch, solidly in the center of the top third of the strike zone box, being called a ball. Really incredible that the umps either are incompetent or just refuse to call the balls and strikes by the rule book.
Another walk in the 2nd, still 2-0 Nats as we head to the bottom of the inning.
Another 1-2-3 inning for the Phils. 2-0 after 2.
Well, VV K's Harper the second time they face off, 6 K's for Vince.
Another walk, another 2 run homer, this time for Murphy. 4-0, although besides the homers, VV is unhittable.
Only the second hit for the Nationals. VV way up in pitches. He has to harness his great stuff and pitch more efficiently.
Now the trainer is out.
Maybe a blister. VV stays in the game, K's Werth, it's almost all Ks, BBs, and HRs for the Nats so far.
The called strike to Rupp was higher than the one called ball to Harper in his first at bat. On a 3-0 count, the umps seem to give a much bigger strike zone.
No hits thru 3 for the Phightin Phils.
