GDT 4/28/17 Phillies (Eickhoff) @ Dodgers (Maeda)

Put on a pot of coffee and get ready for the first west coast road trip of the season. The Phils come into town looking juggernaut-ish with 6 wins in a row. Maeda and his 8.05 ERA are there to greet them. Can they make it 7 in a row?

No score after two innings.

Rupp gets one out walk in the top of the third, but Eickhoff bunts into a force out at second. Hernandez singles, first hit for the Phillies, Eickhoff to third. Galvis doubles in two runs. Phillies go up 2-0.

Galvis saves Eickhaff from costing them a run by not being able to sacrifice successfully. To be fair, AGon made a nice play to get the out at second.

Herrera grounds out to end the inning. Phillies take a 2 run lead into the bottom of the third.

Gonzalez made a good play and Rupp is really slow, and it was still close enough that Phils thought about challenging.

Bottom of the third, Dodgers go out, single, out, single to put runners first and third, two out for AGon. Eickhoff gets him to groung out to short, but not before a wild pitch allows a run to score.

Top of the fourth, Sauders gets a single and advances to second on a passed ball. Altherr takes a called third strike on a full count and Joseph goes down looking on 3 pitches.

First two batters retired. Then a bunt single and a double tie the game, 2-2.
Pitcher Maeda safe on error (E6) but Eickhoff gets the third out.

Eickhoff not very sharp tonight

He seems to be laboring. Too many hits and walks. Dodgers took a 3-2 lead by scoring a run in the 5th (walk, single, sac fly). He gets first two outs in sixth, but then another hit. So far he has given up 9 hits and walked 3 in five and 2/3 innings. Also has a pair of wild pitches. Garcia in to try to salvage the sixth inning without giving up more runs after a walk puts runners first and second with two outs.

Garcia faces Turner and works a full count before giving up a double to plate two more runs. Now 5-2 Dodgers.

Garcia did have fastballs clocked by Gameday at 99 and 100 mph in the at bat. Double was on 86 mph changeup.
