Daboll has passed as well, reporting says he prefers Bills head coach job and if he does not get that he will take the OC job with the Titans. Apparently working with the youngest QB in the league is more attractive to him than working with the Eagles.

When he was removed as OC, there was a media rumor/report that Sirianni/(and Howie?) were considering finding another position for Patullo. Haven't seen a peep on this after that. Where do things stand?

There have been no updates, but I suspect they are giving him a chance to find a better job elsewhere and if not they'll give him something.

He's probably still under contract, seems unlikely he would have only been hired on a one-year deal (especially at the same time Nick was being extended/rewarded). Or he was already on a longer-term deal from his previous role and merely got a raise.

But yeah, you would certainly want the new OC to have a say in it. Seems unlikely he'd go back to passing game coordinator. He could easily go back to being associate head coach. Maybe all a little awkward or weird PR - and he and his family may well just want out of town - but not really any weirder than Matt Klentak or Pete Mackanin continuing to work for the Phillies in less visible roles after being fired (and not as bad as various ex-Phillies and ex-Flyers staying in highly visible roles).

Joe Brady is getting the Bills Head coach job which some OC candidates were holding out for. Frank Reich is taking a job with the Jets.

Josh Allen is basically running the Bills. Sat in on every HC interview. A real good news/bad news situation for any of those candidates, but if you're Brady, mostly good news.

I guess you can't lose out on OC candidates if you don't offer the job to anyone.

It really feels like they are waiting for someone that is still playing. Coaches have interviewed during the bye week before the superbowl, but I never really liked that.

The Eagles’ process is fine. Fans are getting too upset with the daily leak of interviews, most of which are the Eagles picking the brains of candidates. It’s a good plan to take your time, especially since their top candidates were not coming here anyway. Listen to everyone and hope someone blows you away.

I will judge them on their hire. If they hire someone capable of calling plays at an NFL level then it will be worth dragging the process out and asking a lot of candidates what they would do and gathering free info. If they hire someone that can’t call plays we will repeat 2025 and waste another year with a loaded roster. It’s very likely that I won’t know until September unless they get a proven name. I think the jury was still out on Kellen Moore until October.

I know someone that has played for and against a Sirianni team and actually worked with the Eagles during the draft last year. I'm not a big Sirianni fan, but he talks very highly of him. He has hinted what he thinks is wrong with the team and doesn't think it's coaching, but with execution. He won't elaborate on players. If it's execution, then I tend to think it's coaching.

All that being said, has Sirianni ever called plays? Doesn't the HC usually step in when the plays aren't working? I get the hands off approach, but at some point you need to step in.

Just my observation of Sirianni and the offense. While he may not call plays, it seems that he puts parameters around what can be called. His number one rule is no turn overs. That limits a lot of possible plays that can be called. Rule two: run the ball as much as possible. Slimmer chance of TOs; keeps the defense off of the field and shortens the length of the game. Unfortunately for the Birds, the League has caught on to this. Opponents stack the box and defend to the outside on pass plays. It's time to make some adjustments.

The argument against TOs is thrown out the door when the SB teams have had a lot of TOs.

My favorite remaining candidate. It’s a swing for the fences. High ceiling, low floor. They need a veteran advisor who has been successful calling plays before as a fall-back plan.
