Unfortunately, Sirianni is a big believer in playing 'prevent offense' to avoid mistakes when the team has a lead. That almost cost the game. It is boring football. It is also stupid football. Thinking the Bills wouldn't score 14 points was a huge gamble. The D was great, but they were on the field so much in the second half that they wore down. That's the fault of Sirianni and the second half playcalling. The offense has proven multiple times this season that they can play good football, if permitted to go on the offense

I'm with Roob:

They just won in a building where the Bills don’t lose. Think about 26-2 in their last 28 games. And then factor in the conditions? If you beat the Bills in Orchard Park, that’s a performance to celebrate. It wasn’t perfect. It wasn’t pretty. But there’s no way you go into Highmark Stadium and leave with a win and don’t feel great about it.

It was a great win, but there is still room for improvement on offense. Both things are true.

One thing that inspires confidence is the history of the Siriani/Hurts Eagles in the playoffs--they seem to be able to play better offense in the post season. Let’s hope that repeats.

This is the second win this season that the eagles had zero passing yards in the second half. And before defending this with its still a win don’t forget that this is the same formula that lead to the cowboys loss. This defense is amazing. This offense is terrible.

Best hope now is that Detroit beats Chicago and eagles take care of the commies and grab that second seed and earn another potential home game while avoiding the rams in the opener. I have zero hope that nicks best friend will figure out how to coach in the playoffs and have zero confidence in Nick as a play caller. Vic’s squad needs to win games this year.

Kind of funny if you read it from Buffalo's perspective, they think their offense stunk but their defense flipped a switch and played great in the second half.

You can point to some bad referee-ing and other plays and say the Bills were lucky it was close enough for it to come down to one play. And the extra point was blocked, not missed, so some credit should go to Carter and the Eagles for that play.

One has to factor in the wind and the rain to the game. That's the stuff that causes mistakes and turnovers that can cost the team a victory. The Birds didn't do either of those; Buffalo did and lost. Sirianni's game plan was boring but successful.

Mitchell actually said they did practice defending the slant/hook-and-ladder. It took two extraordinary plays for Buffalo to even make it a game and even then they still didn't want to face the Eagles' offense in OT (along with not trusting their PK). That doesn't change the fact that the offense was terrible as well as conservative, but for the game they were in and its importance (minimal) it worked. It will have to be different if the two teams play again, of course.

I didn't see the game yesterday but from extrapolating from what others have said, it looked like they won ugly but won. Hopefully, that three-game rough patch is behind them. There may well be no real heavyweight in the NFL Playoffs this year and it could simply be a year that the team which wins the SB will be the team that gets hot at the right time.

Currently on track for rematches with both LA and Chicago before travelling to Seattle or SF (or back to Philly for some wild card team that upsets the #1 like last year). Tough road but then it felt that way last year too.

Speaking of the Bears, last night's game against the Niners was the first time in NFL history that a regular season game had been tied at each of:

There was a playoff game (the Mile High Miracle) that went that way first, but it was kind of funny to watch it happen, don't recall watching that Flacco vs Peyton Manning playoff game that closely.

That game got in their heads and getting blown out by the Redskins the following season even more so. They were easy prey for those Cowboys teams.
