Yes, once again this team seems to be less than the sum of its parts. It is never a good sign when a team comes off an excellent road trip and comes home and resumes the same flop which was underway before they left on the road trip. I didn't think Stott or Quinn would be .750 OPS guys, but am disappointed how poorly they are doing. Same for Vierling. We need a farm guy to excel. That's what's holding this franchise back, although the current roster should have more wins than it does, and although I still think adding two DHs this winter wasn't the best use of $.
Thus far, best or most efficient off-season move was signing Stott/Camargo to fill out the bench. Worst was Schwarber. Castellanos signing looking fine, at least for this season. I hope history will show that refusing to deal Abel or Painter were the best non-moves, but way too early for that conclusion.
The best non-moves were keeping our 3-4-5 SPs, Bohm, and Segura -- all of which had trade rumors swirling around them. I hope that years down the road, history will show that refusinng to trade Abel or Stott was the best non-move, but way too early to conclude that today.
