This is where I wish we'd think outside the box and come up with a better offer than the Yankees.

On the positive side, there is something to be said for getting better stats as you move up a level. The H/9 improvement may well be BABIP luck, but the steady decline in BB/9 suggest the guy really is getting better if he is walking more advanced hitter at a lower rate. CLW at 23 not super old for a college reliever. He's certainly outside out top 31, but a somewhat interesting guy and reasonable return for Benoit.

Generally the college guys that make it skip Lakewood and I know he is not a top prospect, but as a reliever he should have moved quickly.

No big deal. Benoit had little value.

One minor thing to look at in the next few days - I think there are a number of players that will need to come off 40-man rosters as a result of these trades. It would not be the worst time to take a chance on someone, especially if they are AAAA reliever types. We could always get rid of them when we need the spots for a few September promotions.

To be honest I've been at work and not sure what the Yankees deal looks like, but according to PhilsMania they didn't give up a ton. I'd be willing to start with a package of Eflin or Pivetta, Kilome, Cozens, and a few A fliers. Again not sure if that would be better thank the Yankees offer or not.

I think they got off cheap because they didn't have to include their top current prospects, but no one ever really does that. Fowler and Mateo have both been on Top 5 lists (for the Yankees) at some point. I saw all three players categorized as "Top 100" prospects, though they also have health issues.

on the bright side, the Phillies can now sign Darvish this offseason without surrendering any kind of draft pick.
