I was at the Angels-Nationals game last night and the Angel announcers were talking excitedly about how they were hopeful of moving a couple of their relief pitchers at the deadline [David Hernandez was one of them.]
I hope the Phils don't procrastinate so long on Neshek that they end up not moving him at the deadline. I fully admit I tend to get impatient about deals [was pushing that potential Hedges/Renfroe for Hamels deal 5 months before the deadline] and I know Klentak has only had one trading deadline body of work to evaluate but in my mind he failed last year..he should have moved Hellickson and I thought Rupp would have been a valuable piece to move.
While I acknowledge he deserves a pass on last year he won't get one this year if he doesn't move 3-4 players at the deadline. I agree with andyb and others, this isn't even about getting back premium prospects its about moving veterans off the 40 man roster and at least getting a lottery ticket. Afterall, Pivetta was a lottery ticket and I would gladly accept players like him.
I think Klentak's best chance for a deal is a multi player deal like the Yanks/White Sox made. Packaging Neshek, Joseph and someone else might be the way to go and bring back 2-3 young prospects.
