Perkins' future is a 4th OFer so I see this as a good move. Kendrick has shown he can play adequate left field and showing he can still play some inf. and continuing to hit like he has, increases his trade value. So this is a win-win by giving Perkins an audition as well.
I want to see Hoskins and Williams, too, but not until they can play every day. I have a feeling Nava will be traded, too along with Kendrick in the next few weeks, so even with Hernandez returning there will be an opening in the outfield.
As far as Friday's starter heck let Stassi pitch. I'm half joking here. Why not? A left handed pitcher who could pinch hit, too....Okay maybe I am joking. Appel, Eshelman and Leiter were the three mentioned. Thompson has been awful this year save last night. Eshelman has only had eight starts above AA, but they have been very good starts. Fien or Kelly will be moved to make room for the new pitcher so there is your roster space. Leiter had a number of walks, which is not normal for him, perhaps it could have been some nerves that have subsided now. If they go with Appel, he could become a feel good story - he wouldn't be the first guy to take a while to go from hype to done to back.
Sadly this is what we have to look forward to is who among Eishelman, Appel or Leiter start Friday.
