It will be interesting to see how Miller's arm holds up next season after 83 appearances and counting this season.

But zoinks, look at his career postseason numbers: 13 G, 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 22 IP, 8 H, 34 K, 5 BB, 0.591 WHIP. And we thought Roger Mason was good.

Cubs even series with a strong effort from Arrieta. Schwarber knocks in two. Series moves to Wrigley for the weekend. I'm loving these two teams in the world series.

You have got to love the way the Indians have "played the game the way it should be played". They are doing all teh little things that pay off. Francona has become a great manager.

I thought you were joking, but no! It's a testament to the value of defensive versatility. He's still a poor hitter, but he's good enough with the glove to be selected for his team's World Series roster.

A lot of things had to happen for him to get there (including other player suspensions and being DFA'ed twice) but it is really an incredible career. And yeah, he almost got picked off, but he also got himself to 3B to begin with.

Helps to be in the American League, in home games, you probably don't get in, in road games where your manager is double-switching for the first time all postseason, pretty handy.

I hope the Cubs tie up the series Tuesday night. My fandom tilts toward the Cubs because of their being in the NL, but I wouldn't be too angry at a Cleveland victory.

People on other sites saying this is a boring series. Since I am sleeping through most of the games (being in Europe) I'm wondering what y'all think.

There are so many storylines at play that it's tough to be bored if you are a baseball fan. You have the Indians playing loose and unafraid after being chastised by their own media for not being a contender. You have the battle of two bullpen alpha dogs in Miller and Chapman and the fact that their managers are extending them across multiple innings spitting in the face of the LaRussafication of modern bullpens. You have Kipnis as a prodigal son returning to drop three run bombs on his childhood team in the stadium he idolized growing up. You have Francona on the cusp of greatness, and Maddon on the doorstep of multiple failures. This is before you even get to the obvious history of these franchises and their championship droughts.

I have been loving every minute I've watched. If the Cubs somehow break out their bats in Game 6 then this could swing the momentum in their favor. But THEN they'd have to face Kluber again and that does not bode well. This is all far from boring!

Thank you for your perspective! Wish I could be watching. Sometimes the game is still on when I get up, which is better than 1980 which I also spent Europe with no internet. I missed the whole Phillies WS championship.

Yeah, I don't know what's boring about it for baseball fans. Games have been close for the most part. Plenty of drama. Lots of managerial subplots. Maybe a bit pitching-heavy and free of household names for the casual fan, but last night's game trounced the NFL.

Man, that's where I was in '80 as well! My (then) teenaged son and I got up at 3am to listen to those games on AFRS radio.
