Looking for your update! Cubs win handily 8-4 to lead the series 3-2. Return to Chicago. Large uphill battle for LA and our boys from 2008. I'm still rooting for the Cubs.

More than once, I've wanted to tune in to a game and had to go through 4 different channels in my head before finally finding it (MLBN, FS1, TBS, etc.). Should not happen!

We'll probably soon get to the point (if somebody hasn't already...) where our "smart" TVs have a digital assistant - so instead of running through channels, we'll say (to the remote?) something like, "OK, Google, watch baseball! (or "Siri, watch baseball!"), and we'll either get the baseball game, or a choice of available baseball games.

By doing this, is MLB trying to make everyone buy their online product? Make it as inconvenient to find and only to subscribers to a particular set of channels. Sounds like that's the case.

It's just about the money. Two networks pay more than one, and the company that writes the check gets to decide what delivers the most desirable audience. If Fox or TBS (which is owned by CBS) thought it was better to have the games on broadcast they would be (same for the Final Four and the College Football Playoff). That it leaves some viewers out of luck doesn't enter into either MLB's or the network's equation.

It's definitely not about the online product because the playoffs aren't included in MLB.TV, you have to have use your log-in for the cable channel carrying it.

TBS is part of the Time Warner empire, not part of the CBS empire.

I've lost track Confused by March Madness, for some reason I thought it was all one deal.

In any case, no broadcast network has outbid them for MLB rights, so that's where we get to watch (or not watch) half of it. What's amazing is that ESPN's deal still only includes just the one wild card game.

The cable networks of course, want these things to increase their overall value to cable providers as much as for advertising.

It gets easy to find/see now though.

Cubs vs Indians

Marketing dream - the longest championship droughts from each league, two underdog franchises battling it out. Either way the story writes itself.

I hope MLB air it on a major network people can watch.

World Series Baseball on FOX network. Should be available to anyone with TV of any type including over the air in most markets.

Game 1 on Tuesday (Oct 25) and Game 2 (Oct 26) on Wednesday from Cleveland.
Games 3, 4, and 5 (if needed) are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Chicago. Oct 28, 29, 30.
If needed, games 6 and 7 are back in Cleveland on Tuesday (Nov 1) and Wednesday (Nov 2).

No worse than any MLB city in the great Northeast. What Abner Doubleday didn't have in mind was a 162 game schedule with myriad layers of playoffs to line owners' pockets.

Add the choice to play all (or most) of the games at night, instead of in the afternoon. Night baseball in late October/early November, in climates where that's likely to mean temperatures in the 40s (or colder). This is what happens in a culture that values money over any and all other considerations. The game is debased - but the culture has debased the fans' expectations as well, so there's little or no objection.

There is objection but it takes the form of apathy. I have not watched a single postseason game this year. I won't bother watching a game between teams I am only partially interested in at 8pm. I probably would have watched the nlcs game 5 if it was on in the afternoon.

The "Abner Doubleday invented baseball" myth was thoroughly debunked long ago. Even wikipedia says so. MLB itself did an excellent documentary a few years ago called "Baseball Discovered" which really gets to the bottom of the game's origins. I saw it online but, unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be available anymore. mlb.mlb.com/mlb/mediacenter/baseball_discovered/ Despite that, Bud Selig continued to stick to the Doubleday chestnut.
