Would you roll the dice on Stolarz? (Flyers)

So, Steve Mason is a FA who will probably cost around $6-10M / season. The Flyers have $13M coming off the books, not sure if they have any big pay increases (I assume Neuvirth, not sure).

Would you try and sign Steve Mason or would you give the backup position to Stolarz?

• Yes, resign Mason, he is the better goalie
• No, for financial reasons it is time to go to Stolarz (or he is just a better choice)

Its just my opinion but I don't think that LV will select Neuvirth in the ED. That means the Flyers will have Neuvy back next season. If Mason were re-signed, they'd be back where they have been for the last several season and that mean inconsistent goal tending.
My call is that the Flyers will move on from Mason and pick up Bernier who Hextall knows from his days in the LAK FO. He has had a rough time over the last three seasons but then so have Mason/Neuvirth. When he was in LA, he was one hot property and is playing well this season. For next season we'll see a tandem of Stolarz and Bernier or Neuvy.

They shouldn't sign anyone past a one or two year deal. Whoever plays goal in 2018 and maybe 2019 is just holding the seat warm for Carter Hart.

Agreed, Flyers now have a good collection of touted goalie prospects in the pipeline and Stolarz is the closest to the NHL level. Keep Neuvirth and have Stolarz back him up. Neuvirth is very injury prone so this means Stolarz should get plenty of chances to steal the job and make progress.
