And maybe it will if we start to get deaths. That to me is really what hurt Boxing, the injuries happen in any sport (but of course more in fighting sports) but when deaths started occurring in Boxing it really started movements to ban the sport. Although that never happened I think it did "prep" the fan base for another sport.
UFC also became more popular with millenials and younger parts of the generation ahead of them. Almost no one under 30 is a boxing fan, although many follow UFC.
It doesnt bother me. It isnt gladiatorial combat, it is combat and it is up to the athlete whether they want to participate. To me it is an issue of personal responsibilty but I am not disagreeing with you PC.
I dont think UFC has suffered the extreme injuries that Boxing was injured by. I am sure people can find examples, but it just hasnt gotten that repuation. UFC is also helped by much more responsible referring, they end fights very quickly when someone become helpless. I still think the referee who allowed M. Ali to be beaten mercilessly by Holmes should have either had his license suspended or been sent to Jail (along with Ali's corner man)
