So the draft is Thursday and the sixers seem to be working on picking up another high pick with the Celtics at 3 being the loudest rumor. Simmons looks the pick but wondering what they're thinking for the 3rd pick if it happens...

Dunn? Bender?

Big draft for this franchise.

Sixers seem to be very high on Dunn. If they move into the 3-6 range I think Dunn would be the target.

I'm hoping Patrick McCaw is there at 24, personally.

Dunn definitely seems like the guy with the most noise although next year is supposed to be a huge year for PG's in the draft. I guess a simmons/dunn backcourt would be interesting...

I would believe that during Hinkie but this is a lot of smoke around Boston and the 3rd pick. It makes a lot of sense for both teams...

Makes no sense for the Sixers b/c Ainge is lowballing them.
Sixers have oddles of cap room, they have no urgency (if they win 25 games this year it'll be considered "a great improvement,").
So there is no reason to take 75 cents on the dollar.

If BC gets fleeced, he'll never work in the NBA again, he has to show he's a good GM, he's been handed the keys to the kingdom, screw it up and he'll be answering phones for Daddy the rest of his life.

Very nervous to have Brian colangelo dealing with Ainge. Ainge already has his errand boy Chad Ford greasing the skids that Okafor is not worth a top 5 pick. Colangelo is ripe for a fleecing, something like Okafor and a future #1.

I'm not sure where anyone is getting their value on Okafor to be honest. He's a scorer and has shown little ability to do anything else and this idea that he isn't worth the 3rd pick and probably a player is puzzling to me. Okafor is not really a great fit for Brett Brown and I don't see a time with he and Noel will be able to effectively play together. I would imagine Brett Brown has some say in the conversation. I cant see a world where Okafor, Noel, Embiid and possibly Saric can all get playing time and be happy.

I also don't agree with 25 wins being great improvement if you get the right pieces through their young players and sign a couple of mid level free agents.

I just don't want them to force something. A trade just to make a trade and not getting proper value for Okafor. I'd be satisfied with Simmonds and two guards at 24 and 26 with no trades at all. The Sixers got all the cards why let Boston fleece them. They have five first round picks in the next three years. Maybe they could just wait another season for the PG they need.

Boston isn't offering the 3rd pick and a real player. That would be value.

Jah has the potential to be a great scorer, and hasn't had much chance to show much else.

Minnesota added Townes to a team with Rubio, Wiiggins, LaVine and Dieng and went from 16 to 29 wins. So 25-30 wins is a reasonable expectation if the Sixers add Embiid and Simmonds to this team.

Apparently the Sixers told Ben Simmons' people that they were taking him #1. Not a surprise, but I'm wondering why they told him early? He would have been my choice, too; by far the biggest up-side. Excited to see him and Embiid on the court if we can find a guard or two.

Doesn't Canaan fit pretty well with Simmons? Canaan plays 2 on offense and defends the point guard.

Canaan, Thompson, Marshall, et al fit through the out door.

Keepers are Holmes, Covington, Grant and McConnell. That's about it.
Landry maybe for veteran presence, but he's way down the PT list.

Although I don't think they'd prefer to deal with Boston, if Boston offered the 3rd pick and a potential starting guard, I think that trade would already be a done deal.

Okafor for the #3 seems like a pretty fair deal. If the deal needs to be 'evened out' one way or the other, that should be easy enough with both teams' assets. We have #24, #26, Covington, Grant, Richaun Holmes, Stauskas. They have 3 1st round picks, 5 2nd rounders, and a few spare pieces (Jerebko, Hunter, Zeller, Rozier).

It would be a risk if Okafor dramatically improves or if the #3 pick is a bust, but Noel, Embiid, Saric and Simmons is a good core of young bigs (Holmes, Grant and Covington have potential too), while our backcourt is bereft of talent. One of picks 24 & 26 and next year's picks could always be used on a big man as well.

A core of Noel, Embiid, Simmons, Saric and Dunn might just need 1-2 good shooters/defenders to be a really nice team in a couple of years.

We don't need big men, even if we trade Jah and Embiid breaks down, they'd have Noel, Holmes, Simmons and Saric.
I don't think this year's #3 is equal to Jah b/c the drop off is so large, you're basically talking Bender v Jah, and Bender has too many unknowns to be equal value. Dunn is certainly not equal value.

Sixers need guards (plural) and small forwards (true SFs, not PF/SF tweeners).
Sixers do not need 2nd rd picks, after this year, their cup runneth over.
They would be interested in moving up in the 1st rd.
