You're the only one who thinks it's a competition between them (at least here). But also Martone is a 19 year-old rookie who's been a pro for four weeks, Michkov is 21 and in his second NHL season and fourth pro season. Plus he's obviously more naturally skilled. He should be better. By more than he actually is.
I don't think there's any Flyers forward, except maybe the fourth line guys and Dvorak, who aren't going to be challenged greatly by the Carolina series. One of them is likely to make a series-changing mistake, and none of them are likely to have a series-changing multi-point game. They're all still developing. Some will become excellent two-way players and depth scorers; others will hopefully become stars where you forgive some defensive lapses.
I thought there was legitimately some confusion about who was supposed to be on the ice during that delay, but yes, then the Flyers pretty cleverly took advantage of it to extend the rest time. But these are the Flyers, after all. Of course they're dirty. The spear of Martone did look pretty bad. But I loved that TK goaded Letang, Difference between these Flyers and the Bullies is they don't score on the PPs they trick the other team into giving them.
