They have actually said that the app is included in most ESPN cable subscriptions. Certainly those on tiers that get more than the base ESPN channel. Whether they would charge extra for some content within the app is a question.

Remember when they roll this thing out they would prefer that there are millions of users immediately.

well, that would be good. I don't think I am paying for + right now. don't really need the extra hockey, might actually need the extra college football.

I actually don't expect the + to be completely free. Or only on select tiers. The Direct TV agreement last year allowed for the ad versions of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ to be included on select tiers. Guessing it will only be on the tiers that get the RSNs. But they give away ad versions of Disney+ and Hulu all the time because they make more money off the ads than the subscriptions.

This will be in the $100 a month packages and not the cheaper ones.
