Sixers 2025-26 Will our luck ever change? [LeBron to Sixers!]

IDK, when something's too good to be true, it usually isn't. Just seems that the Celtics have always been one step ahead of us and not sure anything has changed in that regard. But I'll cross my fingers.

Celtic's front office is analytic driven and Brown's efficiency numbers don't measure up to his contract - but that isn't the be all, end all, and I'd sure rather be beholden to him for 3 years than George for 2.

Will be an interesting dynamic for the Sixers to navigate. I know Brown has been viewed as a bit of a "pain in the ass" and hard to coach, but is he the Jimmy Butler type of pain - which I would take all day long in terms of competitiveness - or something else? I don't know well enough.

I'm hopeful that he will prove to be the former and I think he has the gravitas to put Joel in his place - something Maxey has attempted, but too young and too much of a nice guy to pull it off.

This is the splash of cold water, and why it's maybe not an absolute steal or will necessarily end the years of second-round or less. But it still plainly makes the Sixers better for the next couple of years without a huge future price or waiting to augment the new core.

this is the type of stuff that's just hard for me to look past with Brown.

it's not one series or one year. it's literally a decade.

My concern is that the Celtics are a better and smarter organization than the Sixers are. Is there some catch with Brown? Bad guy in the locker room?

He was not getting along with them and once they tried to trade him to the Bucks it was over. But I'm sure the Sixers' tested winning culture will get him right in line!

Ahh it's the NBA (and I'll skip defining what the "B" stands for).

Look on the positive side -- the Celts didn't need to have Danny Ainge un-retire and the Sixers didn't need Elton Brand to u-retire in order to balance out the trade, so it's a step forward (thinking Aaron McKie here).

I think Maxey, Edgecombe, Brown and Embiid should get together and travel down to LeBron’s house and make a personal appeal to him. I know he would be the icing on the cake and even though I’m not really a fan of LeBron, I recognize that his addition, plus the other depth moves that have been made would make the Sixers the favorite for a championship.

Not to be debbie downer, but I'm not sure that would make the 76ers the championship favorite or even the favorite to win the East.

Our quality depth at multiple positions is still mediocre and Embiid & LeBron both have lengthy injury histories over the last 4 seasons.

If both those guys only play 60 or less games in the regular season, we'll likely end up with a lower seed that will make a run to the Finals difficult even if by miracle Embiid stays healthy for the entire playoffs.

I think teams like OKC, San Antonio, MN, NY, Miami and even Boston would pose a stiff challenge to them.

I think Lebron + Joel gives you one guy. Agree they would not be any kind of championship favorite, but I will settle for any improvement over the last few years (I.e. not in play-in, win second round).

In any case I think LeBron is well into his due diligence and doesn't need to be romanced any more than the probably already has been. All of the teams have some appeal, but the nostalgia of going back to Miami or Cleveland, nobody can match. Sixers biggest selling point is Gansey, it seems.

If we're going to use depth as the measure and health...Miami is in a worse position then the sixers and the Celtics are fairly thin as well.

I can't think of many teams that will have a better backcourt than the sixers.

Now the frontcourt might be a little bit of a problem...Lebron isn't coming here so the sixers will need some young guys to step up. It will be fun to have Embiid, brown, maxey and edgecombe on the floor together.

If Lebron signed with the Sixers their starters would be Maxey, VJ, Brown, LeBron, and Embiid...their second five would be Philon, Simons, Walker, Wade, and Hukporti. Barlow or Edwards if Walker isn’t your preference, and Bona if Hukporti is off. There isn’t a better second five in the NBA. Depth isn;’t their problem, it’s staying healthy at the center position.

As long as nobody goes down for a long stretch of time, this team is far more prepared to play without Embiid, even if you don't get LeBron, with Brown in place of George, they cann win a lot of games with Brown, Maxey and Edgecombe. If you get LeBron, you can limit his and Embiid's minutes in an effort to keep them fresher.
