As of June 29th, an update on where the Phillies stand:

In the NL, 3 teams have a better run differential than the Phillies

The Cubs +104, Dodgers +86 and Brewers +57

Phillies are +46 closely trailed by the Mets +39, Reds +40 and Cards +45

Phillies have slipped a bit at scoring runs - 6 NL teams are now better: D-Backs, Cubs, Cards, Reds, Brewers and Dodgers. If you add in the AL, 4 other teams have scored more: Yanks, Rays, Tigers and Red Sox

We continue to struggle at preventing runs - we've allowed more than 7 teams: Dodgers, Mets, Braves, Brewers, Pirates, Padres and Giants and are single digits away from both the Reds and Cubs. If we again add in the AL, we've also allowed more than 6 teams: Yanks, Rangers, Rays, Astros, Tigers and Royals.

This is probably the toughest stretch of the Phillies' schedule but we are 3-1 in series since the Mets series began though our record is only 6-6. It probably helped that we got the Mets at a bad time for them (they are currently on a 4-14 skid).

I'd say June went pretty well considering how it started and that they were without Harper and Nola, while Abel started to flag. The Houston series was a disappointment but even just one win there would have made it a .500 road trip. The Pirates series feels like a glitch.

It will be interesting to see the Brewers on the road in September, they are the only good NL team Philllies haven't done okay or better against at this point.

West coast is always hard but Reds, Angels and Red Sox shouldn't be. Yankees is on the road, that will be tough. White Sox, well....

They have only been barely above .500 in April and June, May is where they piled wins. They probably won't pile wins in July either.

I'm concerned about this weekend's Reds series. Cincy is a deceptively good team (45-42, +35 run differential, in the thick of the NL WC race), close pythatorean record for the two teams (49-38 for the Phillies vs. 47-40 for the Reds), holiday weekend series, last series before a tough road trip which, in turn, precedes the All-Star break and four days off for most of these guys.
