Matt on the Spring breakout game player pool. 2 games so more players get a chance especially on the pitching side. Potential Anderson Navas sighting. 40 players on this list though the final roster will have 25-27 (not sure whether the 2 games can have different rosters).

Today's report contains a Tanner Gresham sighting. Gresham is a West Point graduate who the Phillies signed as an undrafted free agent in 2024. He has not played since then serving in the Army (though had a few innings that year in the MLB draft league). He is now eligible to play baseball and the time with the Phillies will count towards his 5-year service commitment.

So the rules have changed a bit since Noah Song apparently. Gresham apparently touching 97 in his bullpen is 24 now. No idea about his rule 5 status but he at least has 2 years before he is eligible, maybe 3.

Ryan Cusick could be interesting (starter in first game 95-99 velocity). Former number one pick out of Wake Forest by the Braves that got traded to the A's after his first year. A's jumped him straight to AA and he has been awful ever since. Phillies signed him late last year.

Strange line for Ritchie: gives up 2 runs but no hits and 2 walks. I assume unearned runs.

It would be a fun staff to watch if Wood, obermueller, Bowker, Youngerman, Craig, Tolleson, Walters and Marquez start off together at Jersey Shore I would hope. That wouldn’t leave much for Clearwater though.

Doesn’t seem to be any significant “this guy showed up to camp throwing harder” stories.
