Yeah if they hadn't kept Moore, he's gone, period, even if he'd only signed a new minor league deal with another team. Now he probably clears waivers and has to go to AAA (where he will be well-paid) if or when he doesn't stick.
In a vacuum it's a little odd that they are valuing Moore's utility (Gold Glove!) and ability to play the IF over De La Cruz as a pure 5th OF but if Bohm or Turner or Stott get hurt they'd need him. It could change at any time, even as soon as this week (if someone they like better than any of the current options comes available).
While they haven't said it yet this means Stubbs is hitting the waiver wire too probably, i.e. he is not getting carried as a third catcher/utility guy.
