Uncertain weather forecast tonight. I think they will get it in but it really looks like it will be a late one with severe thunderstorms over the ballpark around game time. My tickets are for Thursday and Sanchez.

So they are basically getting Luzardo and Nola an extra day’s rest but Sanchez and Wheeler will be on regular rest. Makes sense.

This is not really a scheduled loss (like the Miz game was). I think they want to keep getting Nola extra rest if possible. Less sure whether it is a priority with Luzardo.

Larger question I guess is how much they might skip the 5th spot. Thomson was not inclined to do that. Maybe Mattingly is. I would probably keep the extra rest in the rotation. We are playing the long game and this might all be for wild card positioning.

They wanted to move Nola away from being before the #5 spot so there's less pressure to win two in a row with weaker pitching. Even if by definition that's how "4th starter" and "5th starter" is supposed to work.

I think we definitely need to split Sanchez and Wheeler in the rotation to save the bullpen. We might get 2 7+ inning starts in a row followed by 3 much shorter spots especially if we don't get a better 5th starter. Eventually they should position that 5th starter slot AFTER either Sanchez or Wheeler since the bullpen will probably be pretty rested those days.

I think they want to keep the rotation L-R-L, so the top three would remain Sanchez-Wheeler-Luzardo.

I guess we should be rooting for more K's when Bohm is at the plate with runners on base?
Maybe they should put the runner in motion more often, although it is often Schwarber or Harper on base I assume

Part of the issue (other than lack of speed) is Bohm not hitting the ball in the air enough for a guy who has power. Putting the runner in motion is just going to lead to different kinds of double plays. I just want him to get the ball in the air more. It is kind of why slow guys like Schwarber hit into fewer DPs.

Bohm's rate is kind of astonishing. Click on the link for a chart that shows the number of plate appearances for everyone at the top of the Phillies list. Why is Bohm hitting more DPs than the Bull? It is the lack of hitting the ball in the air more.

Double play GBs are often due to trying to pull off speed pitches on the outer part of the plate.
The fact that he's 30 and hasn't adjusted doesn't bode well for the rest of his career.
