Atlanta placed LHP Chris Sale on the 15-day injured list, backdated to June 19, with a fractured left ribcage.
The Braves really know how to chew up and spit out pitchers.

He injured it making a diving play, not sure how that reflects poorly on the Braves unless all the other teams insist their pitchers never dive?

Yeah, this one is just bad luck.

It would be nice to think the Phillies have some kind of secret sauce for keeping pitchers healthy but they've lost 40% of the rotation temporarily each of the last two seasons, not to mention Painter. The Braves and Dodgers have had it worse, but it's almost always luck. Plus in Sale's case he's old, even if this was an impact injury.

Sure, the former makes the latter more likely, and/or more difficult or recover from. But a young rib probably breaks just the same. Our youngest everyday position players (Stott and Bohm) seemed to be just as chronically injured as Harper last year. And the Braves' big advantage over the Phillies, a younger superstar, hasn't helped them either.

Since 2022, the Braves main starting pitchers have been Fried, Wright, Morton, Strider, Anderson, Elder, Shuster, Sale, Lopez, Schwellenbach, Homes and Smith-Shawyer. Check out how many ofd them have had serious injuries. It's a MASH unit. Fried was smart to get out of there before he was ruined.

I think they would for real have to delay or postpone games at the Vet in this climate era. CBP field temps are still intense enough as it is. And still fortunate this series has been all night games. They'll be better off this week in Houston (indoors).

Enjoyed watching the Braves beat the Mets tonight. Mets have lost 9 of 10 (oh well), Braves had not had a pitcher record a save in 30 games.
