Richie Cortese was our 17th round pick out of a small college in 2025. Did not pitch last year and has been hurt most of this year. So of course he comes out throwing 97-98. He is 23 and in Low A so it may not mean much, but 98 is 98.
Clearwater’s Richie Cortese missed nearly 3 months with an injury. Yesterday was his fourth consecutive scoreless outing, and it was impressive, striking out 5 in 2 perfect innings. Threw 24 strikes on 30 pitches with 10 swings and miss. Topped out at 98.7 mph and averaged 96.7
