Figured the head to head was the priority and they probably should have cared less about yesterday's game because they ran out of pitching today.
Renteria with a 2B and a HR and Parra still out - so prospect-wise still a decent day.
If they had lost yesterday and Padres had won, they would have been eliminated because it would have caused a 3-way tie at best and Padres win that because it goes to best regular season record. They essentially needed to beat the Padres and get lucky to get in.
I guess the fascinating consequence of going to one team is that our pitching got thinner because we prioritized the 17-year-olds. When we had 2 teams the pitching was better with more 19 and 20 year olds available. Our hitting got better because decisions on hitters get made earlier than on pitchers. Our pitching got worse because we likely prioritized only the best prospects no matter how ready they were.
