Also, the win came as he pitched the first 5 innings of a 7 inning no-hitter.

It is definitely time to change the 5-inning rule for wins. If a team takes a lead in the first inning and never gives it up, an opener should be able to get the win. Guessing McFarlane has barely pitched 5 innings ever, so really he can only lose games he starts in and goes 3 or 4.
