He was definitely less strong for us and for the Marlins, and the Rangers in the second half too. But this time there's no first 2/3 of the season to wear down, so fingers crossed. Of course he's also older. The best version of him you can't get w/o a time machine.
But he doesn't owe us, any more than Aaron Nola owes us for the starts he hasn't made in the last two months or Bryce Harper owes us for the games the Phillies lost in June without him. And he was good enough in 2023.
