Saw Abel at the IPs game tonight. He struggled in the first inning with a wet, slippery mound and gave up a HR. He was better the rest of his outing--breaking stuff was sharp, fastball not so much. He still has games where he puts too many FBs in the middle of the plate, and last night was one.
Crawford had a pretty bad game. A bit overmatched at the plate -- interestingly, he played LF for one of the few times (17) this year. Perhaps they are thinking of releasing Kepler and trying Crawford in left, or a trading partner wants to see him there? Stevenson broke the wrong way on a ball in CF and turned on out for Abel into a double.
Anthony won the game on an 8th inning 2-out, bases loaded single where he hooked a line drive past the SS on a good pitch, a slider down and away. Should have probably gone opposite field, but he hit the LD pretty hard given what a good pitch it was.
