Surprised about the one DSL team. They definitely signed 30+ kids last year to fill the rosters but we also know the back of those rosters were often filler with lots of low dollar signings. I guess we'll see if they sign another 5-10 kids this month to fill out the other roster (with older pitchers to give them stable rotations).
I never had much expectation for the Japanese kid. The whole effort was more about PR for the Phillies in the country for the future rather than getting an actual prospect since he went undrafted in the Japanese draft. I guess if he was going to be a late round pick there teams could have passed on him since they knew he might sign here, but there really was not much to suggest he was a decent prospect.
Forgot about Sabatini. Silva was mentioned in all those articles too a year before he was eligible to sign. Guess I assumed he had more potential though they are all longshots coming from Europe. Aldegheri was a success, but a rare one at that.
