Nice day for Crawford. 2-3, HR, 2 BB, SB
Miller and DeMartini 2-4 also with a 2B and SB. Both over 40 SB for the year. Clearly the Phillies are aggressive in wanting their players with average speed to steal more bases. Guessing this is part educational (when can you learn) but also part analytics. With larger bases and limited engagement throws it is simply easier for players with average 45-55 speed to steal bases at 70%+ where it makes sense.
AOA 3-4 down in Jersey Shore is certainly putting together a great second half. One wonders if he could suddenly explode into a 30-30 guy at Reading next year. Nori and Walton 2 hits down in Clearwater. Vierling in his second game is 2-7 so far. Supposedly Wood was throwing a bullpen in the last day or two but sill doubtful we see him in a game.
Two things:
1. The fact that he can do this makes everything else infuriating.
2. He only can get his swing timed up like this when they pitch him inside because to get to the pitch the whole body has to work together.
