19 year old lefty Angel Liranzo with 4 no hit inning as part of a combined no hitter in Clearwater. 91-92, good feel for his slider and change. Just needs more velo to sharpen everything up.

Justin Crawford has been remarkably consistent all year--a quality the Phils' lineup could use--as a 21-year old in Triple A.

If Crawford could put up his AAA stats in MLB he would be a real boon to the big league team, but there is usually some drop-off for prospects being promoted, of course. Kemp’s OPS dropped by 400 points, for example. Crawford might be good enough not to have a severe drop, but Phils won’t try him absent injury until next year I suspect.

I've been told that Crawford takes bad routes in the OF; only hits ground balls and is too young for this veteran club. In other words not a fit here. /s

In the old days of shorter minor league seasons he would get the September call-up even with limited playing time but unless they are willing to release Kepler hard to see where he fits (and Kepler fits better if they play Nick less). Presumably either Rojas or Kemp come back as the 26th guy.

Kepler fits better because he looks like he is also going to sit once or twice a week for Bader. There will still be the occasional rest day for Nick, but there just is no indication the manager is going to substantially reduce his role.

Crawford will get every chance to earn a full time job next season if they don't trade him. It is unlikely they would go out and get another OF though I suppose Tucker is a narrow possibility. Probably a 75% chance of Crawford winning the job (and hopefully he'll be on top 100 lists to be eligible for a bonus pick).

Aside from his stolen bases, Tucker has been pretty mediocre sine June 1.

I miss the days of the September call ups. I wasn't necessarily a fan of call up ten players, but adding 4 or 5 would seem more reasonable than the current system. It was a nice reward to some veteran players who played well in the minors for the season. It also gave rookies a chance to get their feet wet with the team and "learn the ropes" of being in the majors.
I understand the reasons it may not occur now....owners don't want to pay a major league salary and help players build up service time, ... teams playing mostly "minor leaguers" against teams still in the playoff hunt.

He's certainly tailed off, but still an under-30 player with a career 139 OPS+. He'll probably get hot again, just like Harper will. If money was no object I'd just sign him as well as Schwarbs. If it was to replace Nick, even better. They could also bring back Bader. But the lack of true offensive RHB threat remains, and there's not much in free agency either.

The more extensive call-ups were nice but with the way teams run their bullpens and 40-man rosters now there really isn't anyone to bring up, at least not for the Phillies. Crawford and Painter still aren't even on the 40. They need Stubbs in LV. It would just be Rojas, Kemp, Stevenson and a few fungible pitchers.

Well, despite the mediocre results, the first 3 innings for Painter were as bad as he’s looked- a bunch of pitches to the backstop. The in the 4th he looked better as it looked like he stopped trying to overthrow (down from 97 to 95). He just looks worn out. There are similarities in his delivery to verlander, but without a consistent killer curve it seems to me he needs a little more extension in his delivery so the ball gets on top of hitters faster. Tonight his best weapon was surprise when he got his pitches in the zone.
