The Good, the Bad and the Ugly:
The pitching was Good, the hitters were Bad and some touted prospects were Ugly
LEHIGH:
Hoskins - .280/.378/.550/.928, mini-slump, but hitting .378 his last ten games
Perkins - .318/.395/.439/.834, very consistent all year, good discipline which deserted him in Philly, probably just nerves
Williams - .282/.351/.524/.875, 9BB/33K, don't think he's quite ready, but a few ML games will help him focus on what he needs to improve
Alfaro - .200/.297/.350/.647, 9BB/23K, 5 BB last ten games, May struggles extended into June, but finally getting the message about plate discipline
Mora - .375/.397/.571/.968 in Reading got him promoted to Lehigh, where he hit .250 his first week but 1BB/11K
Cozens - .224/.321/.418/.740, 13BB/29K, hot May followed by meh June, .184 his last ten games, work in progress who'll probably return to Lehigh next year
Crawford - .200/.302/.280/.582, 11BB/13K, looked like he was turning the corner then splat in June, must be something wrong with his swing mechanics
Pullin - .182 in 33 AB, check back in a month, earned this promotion, now he has to run with it
Appel - 2 2 2.50 6s 36.0 38 0 21 31 .275 BA - better, but not close to being ready, struggles out of the stretch nix the pen, inconsistency as a starter nix a promotion, so much for "upside."
Eshelman - 3 2 3.06 5s 32.1 31 4 4 23 .258 BA - untouchable in May, came back to earth in June, still a solid performance, next in line for a promotion
Thompson - 1 3 6.49 5s 26.1 33 4 10 20 .317 BA - just a mess right now, but too young to write off
Pinto - went back as a RP, 5 games, 11 IP 4H 0BB 8K, which is why he is back in Philly
Milner - 1 2 8.64 7g 8.1 13 1 2 11 .351 BA - great in May, then maybe they figured him out
Therrien - 0 0 2 sv 2.30 9g 15.2 13 2 2 14 .217 BA - guess AAA ball isn't that hard? Soon to come to a ML ballpark near you
READING
Kingery .321/.355/.500/.855 5BB/13K - slumped in June but still got promoted. Wasn't a Reading artifact, away numbers in AA ball: .309/.383/.596/.979
Tocci .280/.316/.387/.703; 5B/13K, only 21 but a Manny Mota slap hitter who lacks great speed, good defense but does he have a future in this organization?
Coppola .291/.364/.326/.689, 11BB/14K - adjusted quickly to AA, his advantage over Tocci is the speed and plate discipline to work as a leadoff hitter
Tromp .351/.393/.636/1.029, 5BB/13K - really turned it on in June and has stayed hot, has the five tools, could be putting it all together
