Pivetta's the #3 starter at this point. That's not necessarily good! But, as has been made clear elsewhere, it's just a paper move. He and Eflin and now even Leiter (and Lively) will all have their shot at being in next year's rotation. If only Thompson and Velasquez seemed more in the mix.
I personally don't want them to avoid 100 losses if it costs them the #1 pick, but they are 14-16 in their last 30 games and that's with the recent cratering (they were 13-12 in July, now 4-10 in August). If Herrera doesn't go on the DL, Altherr returns, and the September call-ups (as well as Hoskins and Alfaro) help, it could be done.
