I would say he's an elite utility player. great defense. Gonus offense at times. Gets big hits. Compared to guy like Bruntlett, Valdez, So Toguchi, Ronald Torreyes (or, cough-cough, Scott Kingery) very good. Possibly even a better player than Freddy Galvis if anyone ever gave him a chance to play SS every day while he still can.

But not a 3B. Unfortunately neither our 3B nor our 2B are such incredible weapons that the drop-off is that big when he subs for the ones or platoons for the other. Also unfortunate Kemp, who should be able to hit better than Sosa, couldn't.

They said before this inning that Duran doesn't like to go 5 or more days without pitching. And last pitched 4 days before this game.

He needed to pitch. I'm sure he wouldn't have in a five or six run game, but in a four run game coming off a losing streak, completely justified.

It would not feel any better if he had gotten injured in a 3-2 or 4-2 game.

Fingers crossed, but how many times has a cart been brought out to the mound? Cannot remember ever seeing that.

Hopefully it is just a hairline type deal or bone bruise that only keeps him out for a shorter time. They did not acquire him to win the division nearly as much as they did for October.

I am not able to watch either; hopefully he’s OK, but doesn’t sound good. Maybe keeps Lazar on the roster.
