Stassi lost a 2 run HR due to the wind and settled for a double. Galvis SF scored a run out of it.

Now in bottom of the 6th Rodriquez reliefs and gives up a 2 run double to put the Cubs up 4-3 with 2 outs.
He is being replaced by someone as I type

Look up his numbers. His 6th inning stats look like every better he faces is Barry Bonds. Coming into the year his 6th inning OPS against was like 1.150 or something ridiculous like that. That's Bonds.

I agree. I also thought it was a horribly managed inning by Pete. I mean if your going to warm up the Lefty bring him in to face the lefty. If not, then warm up a rhp too that was your not bringing in the lefty to face a right handed batter. Another frustrating game to watch.

Another solid five inning game for Eickhoff. One run on two hits ( run on walk, single, infield groundout), but the sixth inning collapse hits him again. Two more outs but three hits (all score) as bullpen notches another blown save.

Benoit with only 3 strikes in first 12 pitches in the 8th is not what I expect from a veteran.

Another disappointing loss where we just blow the game. Our bullpen is atrocious again this year as is our game management. Tough one to swallow.

Eickhoff blew it, he was aided by the wind but couldn't locate anything, his slider was bleech, his change was absent, he didn't trust his curve b/c hitters are waiting on it.
So many 3-0, 3-1 counts.
But I think he'll turn it around, but it shows that you need 3-4 pitches to make it as a starter.

Meanwhile Altherr is making the case to be the starting RF for a long time.
Williams and Quinn are fighting for LF next year, Cozens future is as a 4th OF/platoon guy.

If Altherr is really that good, one of Williams or Quinn will probably end up in a trade.

We'll need a few more months, but just looking at him, Altherr seems to adjust within games, is patient at the plate, and has legitimate power.
And he's a golden glove caliber OF, he may not be as fast as Herrera or Quinn, but he has exceptional instincts and a top flight arm.
The Phillies may have finally hit the jackpot on "athletic" prospects with Altherr, the problem wasn't drafting these guys, it was drafting them with top 100 picks.

A damp fifty degrees at the start of the game with the wind coming in off of Lake Michigan. That Eichel threw five decent innings was an accomplishment. Trying to throw a curve, slider or change with a ball that feels like a frozen rock is difficult. There's cold and then there's Chicago cold in the spring like now. I realize that both sides played in these conditions but the Cubs have had more experience in it. Its brutal.
