Thought Nola pitched very well, had some command issues, but we're talking a foot off, not suprrising given his second start since coming off the DL.
92-95 to start and still hitting 93 at the end, he's definitely added velocity this year and is building up stamina in his return.
Starting to get the movement and command back in his 2 seamer.
Sharp breaking ball at 77-79. A bit inconsistent, when it was good, it was very good, but too many way outside or in the dirt.
Changeup at 85 had good sink but he had trouble throwing it high enough for strikes/swings.
Nola has #1 stuff, he just needs to improve his command of all three pitches and change speeds on his FBs (a la Colon).
The key will be command of the changeup, it has the potential to be a plus pitch, and combined with the 2 seamer that he can command, could become his out pitch.
He can be a very efficient pitcher, like Lee and Halladay at hteir pieak, once he gets a little sharper, last night when he was "on," he was unhittable.
