Had 'em all the way, Harry!
Fitting that Duran strikes out Manzardo to end the game.
Series even at one game each.
Phillies pitching has been insane with one run in 18 innings against the Guardians.
Harper with 3 hits, Realmuto with 2, and Stott with the 2 RBI-single.
Stott has been coming up big during May. Seems Stott, Marsh and Bohm have sort of fueled the turnaround.
Has there been many winning teams with only 3 regular hitters over .700 OPS? I cannot imagine so.
The pitching has to be perfect for this team to win consistently. As LSP said, 1 run allowed in 18 IP is crazy good. Unfortunately, with Luzardo, Nola and Painter coming, I doubt it is a winning formula for the longer term.
The 2026 San Diego Padres only have 2 or 3 regulars over .700 OPS so far this season, depending on how you define "regular". They're 30-20 at the moment, but only +7 in run differential.
Well the interesting thing is... there are only 108 qualified players right now with an OPS over .700. So the average is less than 4 per team
The Padres who are one of 6 teams with 30+ wins only have 2. Oh and Tatis is still homerless. The Guaradians have 31 wins and one player with an OPS above .800.. And barely. DeLauter at .808.
The entire MLB has an OPS of .707
