I kid. But Klentak was on record as saying he believed Bourjos could get back to his 2011 form, when he got 500 ABs, if he got playing time. He had less than 200 ABs three of the next four seasons (and fewer than 300 in the fourth). Being that he was always on a good team, they couldn't afford to be patient with him and he obviously was unable to make adjustments or put them into practice. Now he's at 200 ABs with the Phillies before July, so we'll see how the next month goes. I think he's got mild value regardless, as a 4th or 5th OF.

Is the perfect storm brewing in Miami? Dietrich just went on the DL. Bourn and Stanton are already there. They are a game and a half out of the wild card and don't have a 1B or left handed power bat. RH is the perfect fit for this perfect storm!

Disagree...Howard would have already been traded sometime during the last 3 years if that were the case. He is a DH that needs to be platooned. Not much interest in those types around the league or really half the league.

Count me as someone who wants Howard to end the year with the Phils. Earlier in the summer I would have liked to have seen him moved but I want him to get a proper sendoff on the last day of the season, something the Phils were unable to do with Hamels, Utley or Ruiz.

Howard has been the good soldier all year and has hardly been the reason for the teams offensive struggles. And while I would have preferred to see more of Tommy Joseph * I understand the reasoning behind Howard's occasional starts against righties.

The Phils will have one sellout this year and that will be the final day of the season if it is Good bye Ryan Howard Day. Philadelphia phans have taken an awful lot of grief from uninformed peopled throughout the nation and that final game of the season will be a nice way to say good bye to a guy who was so instrumental in providing Phillie faithful with the greatest 5 year run in the history of the franchise.

And truth be told, had he not ruptured his Achillies in an injury that I believe the Phils contributed to, he likely had 2-3 more highly productive years ahead of him and a borderline nomination for the Hall of Fame. He probably would have surpassed 450 home runs and comparisons to Willie Stargell would have been complimentary to Howard.*

Agree, CD. The time when moving Howard would have made much difference is past. Let's give him a proper send off.

That game won't come close to selling out, but it should get a nice bump. I've often hoped a trade would happen because I think it would be good for both parties (and by "trade" I don't mean the Phillies get anything really). If Howard could hit a home run for another team in the playoffs I'd enjoy that just as much as seeing him tip his cap before the Phillies lose their last home game. But it's also long been clear that Howard wasn't dying to uproot himself, and the Phillies were both happy to accomodate him (not that they have a choice, short of release) and happy to give him this proper farewell. It couldn't have worked out better, as far as his bouncing back.

And with Ruiz gone, it will really be a symbolic moment.

It's also not just that everyone from the 2008 roster will be gone. Galvis is the only player left from the 2012 roster (other than Ruf), and no starting position players or pitchers of any kind (except Buchanan and Luis Garcia in AAA) remain from the 2014 team.

Right I only meant "of any kind" to modify pitchers but of course Asche is not the starter (or in the majors now).

Was more amazed that not even one relief pitcher stuck.

Ruf, Franco, Hernandez, Rupp, Galvis, Blanco, Altherr and Neris all appeared in 2014, so that is 5/8 of current starting line-up, if not necessarily 2018's.
