Nobody has commented on today's game, so I'll start the discussion. The Eagles 'won' today against the Titans, just as they 'won' last week against the Commanders: two very narrow wins over two teams unlikely to reach the playoffs. In both games the offense was deliberately 'choked' by extreme conservatism in game plan and play calling. This is apparently how Head Coach Sirianni wants the team to play: avoid turnovers with very safe calls, especially pushing the run unsuccessfully, with the help of poorly set up screens on 1st and 2nd down to put the team in a 3rd-down hole. The measure of a successful game seems to be elimination of turnovers. We won the turnover battle in our playoff game last year and lost. We lost the turnover battle today and won. Our coaches need to be more concerned about 3-and-outs. When Hurts and the O were unchained they seemed very capable of scoring.
Still need better play from both lines. The sweeps using Brown were nice to see, but they are very quickly going to stop working unless Brown is used as an actual downfield receiver, rather than just being the fast guy brought in to run sweeps. The injury to Goedert hurt the team. Barkley after injury on first offensive game -- returned later in game, but the team would have been better off in this game and in future if he didn't return and had a chance to avoid worse injury to fight another day. He was less effective on his return than Tank Bigsby had been as his sub.
The D faded as the game progressed. Not faded to awful, but far less than in 1st half. Tired or the opposition just adapted? I think largely tired. They showed temps of the artificial turf -- really hot, as in almost 160F.
