The strategy last night was to put Mittchel in single coverage on Pickens, and bracket Lamb. That makes sense since you’re then always doubling Lamb. Unfortunately, Adoree was not good enough, even with help, to stay close to Lamb.

Docs, he is a veteran, able to decline contracts he doesn’t like. Eagles probably are the first team to meet his asking price! (Besides, veterans don’t want to go to summer camp in general, and the Eagles don’t have to guarantee his salary since he was signed after week 1.)

I understand everything you said, i do feel like there is a game of musical chairs where if you don’t sign a contract you don’t get any money, and clearly his strategy worked because he got his contract, i was thinking a player of his caliber and age would have been locked up before week one but i was wrong.

Teams have optimism about their young players after draft and through pre-season. They are reluctant to spend a roster spot and significant $ on a 33-year old. Eagles' thinking changed after no sacks against Dallas. Possibly premature, as the absence of Carter greatly reduced sack possibilities. Still, the Eagles must have seen some things about the performance of their edge rushers, which disappointed. That and an open spot on roster made a difference. I wonder if they know Carter will be suspended for our next game and are planning a modified DL to ease burden on remaining DTs. The fairest league discipline, knowing what we now know of Dak;s behavior, would be to treat our game with Dallas as Carter's suspension by way of a fine of one-game's pay..

Apparently the precedent for previous spitting incidents has always been fines, not suspensions. And like you say, he already missed a game.

I think they decided in the 10 days leading up to the game that Ojulari was cooked or not usable in their scheme. Thus he was inactive, and apparently they were already in negotiation with Smith two days prior to the game. So I don’t think the game played any role in the signing.

They are always in discussion with the agents of FAs to see who is available at what price and who seems to have strong suitors. I suspect the trigger wasn't pulled until our edge guys were game-tested. Many saw precious little preseason action and the Cowboys O-line provide a good measure.

I'm a little surprised that Kenyon Green was cut again, although he doesn't seem like he has a lot left. Hopefully this means Dickerson isn't hurting to badly. I thought he was re-signed as insurance. Perhaps Howie has a better FA guard in his sights.

They didn’t make a corresponding roster move which means there is still a spot on the 53 open, hope this means they will sign Samuel Jr.

edit: i read that samuel had neck surgery in April and has a scan lined up in October and that he would not sign with anyone until cleared by that scan so wishful thinking.
