A real polarizing pick is S Genesis Smith from Arizona, who I keep taking early and xofog took at 68 in his latest mock (above). Moist evaluators have him around 50-70 on their big boards, but Fran Duffy of PHLY, who I respect, really dislikes him. I expect the Eagles may be out on him because of slow reads and an average 40 time for a safety. He was only a 3-star recruit out of HS, and the Eagles tend to go for higher star recruits with higher RAS scores. I’ll go in a different direction next time I think.

The Eagles were put in bad positions in multiple games because Elliott just doesn't have it anymore. Two fair seasons in a row. A plus kicker, with the 60+ range some of the new kickers have shown, is easily worth an extra win. The old mantra that kickers aren't worth drafting is wrong. A plus kicker is worth a 6th round pick today, especially for an Eagles team with two picks in 6th round and a bottom-half of league place kicker.

Kicker folks, I see Smack rated 4th among eligible kickers and Zvada 1st in most places. Any ideas what people see as the difference?

How happy are we with Proctor in round 1 (which I see a lot of places)? I read something yesterday implying he had a lot of red flags which is the first I’ve seen anything negative about him. And stories are starting to come from the beats that the Eagles like Cam Williams and that he’s gotten much stronger over the off-season so far.

Compare stats, Smack is better than Zvada.

Sites seem to want to focus on 2024 for Zvada but in 2025 I think he was like 67% on FG.

And if we trade AJ, I am thinking we can get either KC Conception or Denzel Boston with the draft pick.

I think it remains in both the team's and AJ's interest for him to play another year. I think he'll be happier with this year's offense than he was with last season's super defensive offense. He should treat this as a contract year and get a contract boost from his new team atter this season. The team's reported asking price suggests they aren't super serious about tradking him. With the goal of getting Hurts moved forward with a revitalized offense, they need AJ. AJ's concept of what the offense should be seems far closer to reality than the coaches' plan was last season and i think Howie and the owner recognize that. A lot of 3 and outs are as harmful as turnovers.

I agree it's risky to let him go, but I think the asking price merely reflects both his talent and the cap hit. I know some think the tension is overstated but it seems to me the toothpaste is kind of out of the tube and they still intend to move him in June.

1st mock of the year and I'm very happy with it. Of note that Caleb Downs was still available at around 16, wonder if something like that may happen as the NFL devalues the position. Kaden Proctor went before Lomu. Ramsey at 98 is just the type of versatile safety Fangio likes. Koziol and Demmings with tons of upside and Durant may be better as a 3-4 edge. I don't think Allar is an NFL starter, but he could be a draft, develop and trade asset.

I'm a little shocked that there wasn't a bigger market for Goedert, he signed a one year deal for 7 million, way below estimates of 13 million a year. He must really like it here or we view him better than the rest of the league.

$4.25 million signing bonus though. Obviously he wanted to stay, and, as with last year, understands that taking less helps the team pay other guys. At the same time he still had a fair amount of leverage since the Eagles certainly didn't want to take the $20.5 million cap hit on letting him go. I'm sure he also didn't leave any money on the table from other teams, or at least not any good ones.

Rapaport says there are four teams AJ is willing to be traded to, which suggests he is quietly as eager for it to happen as the Eagles are. I still think it happens in June, and if it doesn't there will be drama (and then it still happens).

I don't want them to trade A.J., nothing they get in return will help the team this season. Instead of trying to trade him, they should do what it takes to make him happy to stay.

Darius Slay is retiring, he was one of my favorite players, glad he got to win a Super Bowl here.

I like Lomu and would be fine with him at #23.
