Steve Potter (who has connections in Clearwater) has reported several minor league signings that have not made it into the official milb.com transactions. No indication, as yet, whether these guys will receive invitations to spring training.

Somewhat interesting AAA infield signing. Miguel Cairo's kid who is still only 24 and was a rule 5 pick a couple of years ago. Was not great last year in AAA at age 23, but again, young enough to get better and help defensively at least if we have an infield injury (and Miller is not ready at that time).

Thanks, andy. I'm going to add Cairo to the list of kids signed, per Steve Potter, but not "official," per milb.com. I suspect that the Phils are sitting on these, pending a press release listing all the minor league signings / spring training invites. Their public relations strategies are...curious...to say the least.

Cairo is a super nice young man, but when I saw him at low A he was indeed all field and no hit. I was surprised when the Braves took him in the rule 5 draft last year (returned). But I did buy his jersey at auction in 2021 - let's hope we can squeeze some hits out of him!

Does seem all field, speed, and little hit at this point. We just don't have lots of middle infielders at AAA who could sub for Sosa if he gets hurt or is playing regularly for somebody. Weston Wilson could easily get lost because he is out of options (and Kemp appears ahead of him).

Hopefully he has added some strength and can get his offense up to respectable utility infielder levels.

milb.com's official transactions page is slowly catching up. It now shows Phils' minor league signings through December 26th. This is all the signings reported by Steve Potter as happening in December. There are a couple of January 2026 signings pending...
