A highly successful manager who simply won everywhere he went but seemed to be somewhat abrasive and, notwithstanding the Mets, seemed to wear out his welcome with the clubhouse in all of his stops after two or three years. In that HOF grey area as a manager--he only has one WS appearance but otherwise has at least one WC and over 1200 wins.
